Social Media, Emergence And Trend Spotting – The Missing Tools

I’ve been spending a lot of time recently thinking about complex adaptive systems as they relate to social media. And the majority of my thought has been centered around the concept of emergence. Emergence, “is the way complex systems and patterns arise out of a multiplicity of relatively simple interactions.” Tweets would fall in the category of “relatively simple interactions.” Businesses need better emergence tools.
